A speech-language pathologist provides services to prevent, identify, diagnose, and treat patients in the areas of expressive and receptive language, swallowing, cognitive functioning, voice, and speech. Speech-language therapy is a part of a continuum of service, which also includes coordinating care with other health care services as well as educating patients and family members for the highest level of rehabilitation.
