CVH offers back-to-school immunizations, sliding scale fees

GARDNERVILLE, Nev. – Carson Valley Health is offering back-to-school immunizations at its Minden Family Medicine and Topaz Ranch Medical Clinics. Sliding scale discounted fees and financial assistance through its Community Care Assistance Program.

“Great healthcare shouldn’t break the bank, and it is our policy to provide essential services regardless of the patient’s ability to pay,” Shannon Albert, CVH’s chief operating officer, said. “Sliding scale fees and discounted services are offered depending on the household’s income and family size.”

Albert said that in 2021 CVH provided over $550,000 in community health and wellness services through sliding fees and discounted services, health fairs, free and low-cost health screenings, free and discounted sports physicals, health education, wellness services and support groups, and is on track to exceed that amount for 2022.

Several financial assistance programs are available to local residents, including Medicare, Nevada Medicaid, CMSP or Medi-Cal, Douglas County Social Services, Lyon County Social Services, SSI/SSD Social Security Income and the Victim of Crime Program. Patients who do not qualify for state-funded programs may be eligible for CVH’s Community Care Assistance Program.

Sliding scale discounted fees are applied to all in-office services at these two locations and in-office and x-ray services excluding reference laboratory tests and consulting radiology interpretations, Albert said.

A completed application including required documentation of home address, household income, and insurance coverage must be on file and approved by the business office at the clinic before the discount is granted. If the applicant is eligible for Medicaid, a written denial of coverage by Medicaid may also be required.
