When It’s Urgent, CVH Cares for You!

Whatever outdoor adventures your family enjoys, CVH Urgent Care is here for you.

There are many ways to enjoy the four seasons around Lake Tahoe. There’s the world-class rock climbing, biking and hiking our area has to offer. And as the temperatures drop? Skiing and snowboarding are a great way to see the breathtaking views from Heavenly and Diamond Peak. While all of us hope our outdoor adventures go according to plan, when unexpected accidents or illnesses come up, CVH Urgent Care is the solution.

CVH Urgent Care Center VS the Emergency Room

Urgent care is the best option for critical but non-emergent medical concerns. Life-threatening injuries should always be treated at the emergency room.

Both CVH Urgent Care and the emergency room can treat unexpected injuries and mild to severe illness. However, choosing to seek medical care at the urgent care clinic (when possible) allows ER staff to focus on true emergencies. Typically, a visit to urgent care is also faster and more affordable than an ER visit.

Like the ER, walk-ins are welcome at CVH Urgent Care. X-rays and lab tests are performed on-site. CVH Urgent Care typically treats the following conditions:

  • Cuts and lacerations
  • Broken bones
  • Burns
  • Sprains
  • Fevers
  • Allergic reactions
  • Animal bites
  • Rashes
  • Sore throats
  • Sinus infections
  • Influenza
  • Other minor injuries or ailments

Accessible, Affordable, High-quality Healthcare with NO APPOINTMENT NECESSARY.

Urgent care visits are an excellent alternative when your primary care provider is unavailable for a same-day appointment. All you need to do is walk into our urgent care location in the CVH Ironwood building at the corner of Highway 395 and Ironwood Dr. and check in at the front desk. The Urgent Care door faces Highway 395. Our providers see each patient as soon as possible, in the order or arrival.

A Brief History of Urgent Care

Illness and injury never seem to happen when it’s convenient. People are often injured or experience a worsening of their symptoms when traditional doctor’s offices are closed.

Before urgent care clinics existed, hospital emergency rooms were the only care option available for patients who needed care in the evening or on weekends. (Fun fact: ERs as we know them weren’t invented either until the 1960s!)

In the 1970s, urgent cares were created to help meet high demand for after-hours care. In the early days, these clinics were staffed by emergency services personnel. Over time, urgent care clinics have become a critical part of the healthcare system, improving the convenience and access of healthcare for people all over the country. As of 2019, there were around 9616 urgent care centers in the United States.

Caring for Carson Valley, Nevada since 1993

In the early 1990s, there was a high need for healthcare in the Gardnerville, Nevada area. In December 1993, the Carson Valley Health opened its doors to meet the demand. As our community has grown, so have we!

CVH added a Rural Health Clinic in Topaz Ranch in 2006. The CVH at Ironwood building in Minden, where our urgent care is on the ground floor, opened in 2014. CVH now offers a full spectrum of healthcare services. Click here for more information on all our services.
