nurses and doctors with balloons Carson Valley Health was recently recognized for outstanding performance in patient satisfaction. In a survey administered by the Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS), the local healthcare facility scored higher than 90% of over 1,000 similarly sized and placed hospitals across the US for both the inpatient department and the emergency room.

"Carson Valley Health has participated in this program for several years," says CVH's Director of Clinical Services, Kathy Cocking, MSN, RN.  "Our patient perception scores have steadily improved during this time."  In the most recent results (Fourth quarter 2016), CVH was recognized in both the Emergency Department as well as Inpatient Department with  Certificates of Excellence.  Both areas scored at the 90th percentile or above in the Hospital Rating score.  This means that CVH scored higher than 90% of the >1000 hospitals in our vendor’s database.  "CVH is very proud of the recognition for our outstanding care, and remains committed to continue to focus on improving patient’s perceptions and experiences at our facility."

Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) is a standardized patient experience survey that is given to patients who are hospitalized or use services at hospitals that receive Medicare and Medicaid funds.  Hospitals must use CMS-approved vendors to distribute the surveys and must participate if they are to be paid federal and state monies.   Results are publicly available on a quarterly basis.
