GARDNERVILLE, Nev. (October 4, 2016) – October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It also marks the one-year anniversary of the grand opening of The Pink House in Genoa. In celebration, Pink House owners Dan and Lois Wray are hosting fundraisers throughout the month “for the fighters.”

Events include a month-long raffle for a hand-made quilt, a Van Gogh & Vino brunch held at the Pink House on October 15, and “Tickled Pink – A Black Tie Affair” dinner on October 22. Proceeds of each activity will be donated to the Carson Valley Health Hospital Foundation to develop a fund to support local women facing the challenges of breast cancer diagnosis, treatment or support.

“There are often resources to help women get an initial mammogram, but once someone is diagnosed, some women find that resources are very limited for the follow-up screenings and treatments,” says Lois Wray. “We feel that it is fitting that The Pink House be a partner in creating such resources for as many local women as our community can step forward to help.”

The following activities are slated to be hosted by The Pink House throughout October:

October 1-28:  Purchase tickets to win a hand-made “For the Fighters” quilt. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at The Pink House or by calling 775.392.4279. Raffle will be drawn on Saturday, October 29 at 1:00 pm.

October 15:   Van Gogh & Vino at The Pink House. 10:30 am – 12:30 pm, enjoy instructed painting of “Genoa Lane in the Fall,” a glass of wine or beer, and picnic box lunch. Tickets $45 each. Call 775.392.4279 to purchase.

October 22:  Tickled Pink-A Black Tie Affair. Elegant evening of dining at The Pink House. $45 per plate, two seatings available at 5:30 pm and 7:00 pm. Call 775.392.4279 for reservations.

“We are thrilled to partner with our friends at The Pink House for Breast Cancer Awareness month. If you haven’t had a chance to experience what The Pink House has to offer, what a great opportunity to do so and support the women in our community at the same time,” CVH Director of Development Shannon Albert says about the upcoming events.
