Family Health and Wellness Fest Kicks Off Saturday, Aug. 20

Carson Valley Health (CVH), along with partners throughout the Carson Valley, are preparing for the annual Family Health and Wellness Fest this Saturday, Aug. 20. Held at the CVH campus on the south end of Gardnerville, the Health Fest offers free health screenings, wellness activities, and fun for the whole family. 

The Health Fest is open to the public from 8:30 a.m. to noon. The schedule of events includes:
8:30 a.m. – Health fair booths open to the public
9:00 a.m. – ColorBlast 5k to benefit Tahoe Youth and Family Services
9:45 a.m. – Kids’ yoga on the lawn, led by Mary Foraker, RN, MSN, RYT
10:15 a.m. – Yoga for pain management
10:30 a.m. – Free wellness seminar with Cardiologist Mei-Yu “Eric” Chuang: The Latest Advances in Protecting Your Heart

A variety of wellness booths and services will be available throughout the morning, including free glucose and BMI testing, nutritional consultations, and chair massages at the “relaxation station.” New this year, CVH will be offering $25 EKG’s (by appointment only). Kids can enjoy a bounce house, face painting, fire engine tours, and yoga.

Many community services will be highlighted as well, with vendors from East Fork Fire Protection District, Care Flight, the Partnership of Community Resources, and Douglas County Parks and Recreation, just to name a few. For a full list of vendors and activities, visit www.cvmchospital.org/fest.
