MRI Upgrade Complete

GARDNERVILLE, Nev. (September 29, 2014) – A recent upgrade to the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) technology at Carson Valley Health brings premium technology to patients while reducing wait and appointment time. 

Since the establishment of Carson Valley Health’s Medical Imaging Department in 2003, CVH has utilized a GE Signa Smartspeed LX9.1 software platform. The upgrade to a GE Signa HDXT 23 makes the hospital a leader in the region for the quality of MRI services available. Timothy McFall, Manager of CVH’s Medical Imaging Department explains that the upgrade included both hardware and software components.  “Every piece of our MRI equipment will be new from the magnet, out. This includes the latest software platform available.”

The value of this technology to patients could mean faster and more thorough diagnoses.  “Image quality is improved immensely, the scope of studies that we can perform will expand, and ultimately our diagnostic capabilities are improved” says McFall.  He also notes the decrease in wait time. “People have busy lives, and less time spent at their MRI appointment allows them more flexibility to get in and have their medical needs taken care of.”

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a test that uses a magnetic field and radio wave pulses to create images of organs and structures inside the human body.  MRI’s can be performed on many parts of the body including head, chest, organs, blood vessels, bones and joints, and spine.  Such tests help doctors identify and diagnose diseases of the blood and organs, inflammation, arthritis, and injury.
