CEO Susan Davila Awarded "Grassroots Champion" by Nevada, American Hospital Associations

GARDNERVILLE, NV (June 6, 2014) - The American Hospital Association (AHA), in partnership with the Nevada Hospital Association (NHA) has awarded the AHA Grassroots Champion Award to Susan Davila, CEO of Carson Valley Health. As a 2014 Grassroots Champion, Davila was selected based on her exceptional leadership in generating grassroots and community activity in support of a hospital's mission.
The Grassroots Champion Award was created to recognize those hospital leaders who most effectively educate elected officials on how major issues affect hospitals' vital role in the community, who do an exemplary job in broadening the base of community support for their hospitals, and are tireless advocates for their hospitals and patients. "Through her activities at Carson Valley Health and through the Nevada Hospital Association (NHA), Susan Davila is a community advocate for improved health care, a strong voice with elected officials in Carson City and Washington, D.C., and a tireless champion on a range of health care issues impacting hospitals and the patients they serve," said NHA President and CEO Bill Welch. "Susan has been a driving force behind our ability to put patients at the top of our state and federal advocacy agendas, benefiting thousands of patients who come through the doors of Nevada’s hospitals each year." We depend upon strong voices like Susan’s to help tell the story of hospitals as cornerstones of the communities they serve," said AHA President and CEO Richard Umbdenstock. "This award is a small token of our appreciation for her hard work and dedication to improving health care in America."
The Grassroots Champion Award is presented annually to one individual from each state. The 2014 honorees were recognized at a May 6 ceremony during AHA's Annual Meeting in Washington.
Carson Valley Health is a non-profit medical facility that provides acute and ICU care, surgery, 24-hour emergency services, and outpatient services.
