CVH Now Provides the Latest in Mammography

In the business of saving lives, having the most advanced technology is a big advantage. With the generous donation of $100,000 from the CVH Hospital Foundation, the hospital was able to acquire the Hologic Selenia digital mammography system, which has been in use at the hospital now since mid-May.

Digital mammography uses computers and specially-designed digital detectors to produce an image that can be displayed on a high-resolution computer monitor, then be transmitted and stored just like computer files. Not only does it produce images of uncompromising quality, but also allows radiologists to zoom in for close-ups of specific areas of interest and even adjust brightness and contrast for optimal resolution. Images can easily be transmitted via computer to radiologists and physicians for diagnosis.

By offering women the latest technology in mammography, Carson Valley Health hopes to increase the number of area women who follow recommendations for regular screenings. One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime and early detection is the best protection.

Thanks to the generous donations and support from Krissie Thornhill of Designing Images, LLC, Carson Valley Health is also remodeling the mammography suite to offer women a calming and relaxing environment for their exam.
