May 24, 2011 CVMC Hospital Foundation Announcement:

In the business of saving lives, having the most advanced technology is a big advantage. With the generous donation of $100,000 from the CVMC Hospital Foundation, the hospital was able to acquire the Selenia Dimensions digital mammography system, which is the industry’s most sophisticated digital mammography system.

Digital mammography uses computers and specially-designed digital detectors to produce an image that can be displayed on a high-resolution computer monitor, then be transmitted and stored just like computer files. Not only does it produce images of uncompromising quality, but also allows technologists and radiologists to zoom in for close-ups of specific areas of interest and even adjust brightness and contrast. Images can easily be transmitted via computer to radiologists and physicians for diagnosis.

By offering women the latest technology in mammography, Carson Valley Medical Center hopes to increase the number of area women who follow recommendations for regular screenings. One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime and early detection is the best protection.

Thanks to the generous donations and support from Krissie Thornhill of Designing Images, LLC, Carson Valley Medical Center is also remodeling the mammography suite to offer women a calming and relaxing environment for their exam.

Local artists have partnered with the CVMC Hospital Foundation to create an inspirational healing environment in the current Healing Gallery on display throughout the hospital. The gallery features - Steve Noble, Terry Anderson, John Atkins, Willene Atkins, Liz Cataldo, Robin Chapin, Betty Chessin, Dorothy Davis, Steve Dunleavy, Susan Kotler, Stanley McPartland, Christy Smith, Ulla Noor Warner, Linda Wellise.
