Let's Stay Healthy Together - Carson Valley Community Video
To our community, for our neighbors; Our mission is your health and wellness.
Our vision is better care for a healthier community.
In the early 1990s, the high demand for medical services in the Carson Valley resulted in a plan to provide these much needed services to the area. That plan was Carson Valley Medical Center (CVMC). CVMC opened its doors in Gardnerville in December 1993. The medical center brought primary care, family and internal medicine physicians, as well as outpatient services and an urgent care together under one roof. The outpatient services covered a variety of areas such as laboratory, physical therapy, pharmacy and medical imaging. The facility also housed a number of specialists including orthopedics, podiatry, gynecology, urology and cardiology. Soon after the first phase was complete, talk of beginning the second phase began.
Completed in 1995, the second phase of the project brought an outpatient surgery center, replaced the Urgent Care with a 24-hour Emergency Room, and added rehabilitation therapy to the CVMC. These services provided the residents of Carson Valley an opportunity to stay close to home for high quality medical care, offering a great assortment of diagnostic tests, lab services and ambulatory surgery, a great improvement but still no inpatient hospitalization.
In 2004, the Critical Access Hospital opened with 15 Acute Care beds. In 2007, the hospital expanded to include an ICU.
In 2008, Job's Peak Internal Medicine & Family Practice, Minden Family Medicine & Complete Care, and Job's Peak General Surgery joined CVMC. The following year, CVMC Senior Care was opened to provide specialized primary care services to patients over 65.
CVMC responded to a great need in the community by opening Vitality for Life in 2010. Vitality for Life offers mental health and wellness services to patients over 65.
Alpine Medical, Dankworth Family Medical and Herbig Family Medicine joined CVMC, in 2012, followed by Crenshaw Internal Medicine and Family Practice in 2014, thus expanding the access for patients of the Carson Valley to the quality care provided by CVMC.
Today, CVMC has a reputation as the quality, compassionate local healthcare provider, bringing the community a hospital, surgery center, 24-hour emergency room, advanced diagnostic services, and physician offices/clinics throughout the Carson Valley.
